Project 365 revolves around the idea of keeping one's eyes open all the time for new photo opportunities. And, to force that idea to the next level one is not only challenged to snap pictures every day for a year but, to also post one of those photos every day! Now, I have my camera bag with me at all times and my Fast 50 (f1.4) mounted almost always. And, I do take pictures every day. I also sometimes discard all of those pictures for one reason or another...
P-365 is meant to force vision, originality and presence in the photographic process and to go to places where one's habitual sources of inspiration may not normally take them. I am a chronic macro photographer balanced with a good measure of Nature, Panoramic Landscape/Seascape and birds. Essentially, I like to walk in the woods, stop often and sit often to wait for creatures to come to me.
Things I do not naturally point my lens at? People. Whether that is street-shooting, get togethers, what have you. Architecture. I am attracted to it but, again it s not in my sights often. HDR or high dynamic range is a controversial way of processing an image which employs stacking 3 or more of the same scene within a specified range of stops. the desired result being a photograph with a great balance of detail between the near blacks to the near overexposed. The results can be terrifically magnificent in their realism, painterly and surreal or they can be hard to look at, garish disasters! I play with the process in the privacy of my home but have not yet kept anything I've manipulated. Well, there is one but it will not be included in this project. You may see an HDR photo or two over the next year.
I'll post where you can view my P-365. It will probably be in a separate gallery on my current Flickr page or I may set up a whole new Flickr site to showcase the project...
There you have it. I'm nervous committing this to print but, I think it will re enforce the urgency of the project which, is getting more daunting as I type! Wish me luck!
Peace out,
Allan
