It had been on my to-see list all Summer but, I have not had the patience or been in the mood to sit and stare...this goes for movies as well as photo processing...my hard drives are aching under the weight of gigabytes of unedited photos over the past several months.
"Barney's Version" is based on Mordecai Richler's 1997 novel of the same Name. It is written as an autobiography of the main character, Barney through his sordid life of excesses in money, booze, drugs and of course women. Even a murder accusation hangs over his head. But, as the story progresses he, of course is revealed as a real human being experiencing real life and real troubles...some of his own doing and some not so much.
I think the movie was about humanity and I really fell in love with the character. Paul Giamatti cemented himself as one of my favorite actors in his portrayal of Barney and he is well supported by a cast peppered with well knowns and not. The settings are awesome as is the soundtrack.
If you admit you cried I might do the same.
