For as long as I've had my name folks get the spelling wrong...
Now, I appreciate there are many ways to spell it, in fact given it is such a short nane, it is surprisingly variable.
When folks ask the correct spelling, I appreciate it greatly. When folks go as far as asking if I prefer "Allan" or "Al", I appreciate that too ( I prefer "Allan", thank you). Al can be confused with "Albert" and "Alvin"...I am neither...
What really chaps my ass is when people who should know better get it wrong, particularly people I've worked with for an extended period of time, some even years.
I extend the courtesy of asking others about their names, even the pronounciation if it is not obvious...Hell, I'm even interested in the genus of a name!!
If one cannot bother getting a name right, especially if it's on a card then the sentiment is diminished to a great degree...
